As we have gotten our house put together I have started to try and become a homemaker like my mother, grandmothers and great grandmothers. And let me tell you, it isn't as easy as it seems. But I feel that I am off to a good start. My great grandma Hinman would make rice balls that are to die for. She passed the recipe on to my grandma Lords. Who then passed it on to me. I must say I need a coupe more years practice to make them taste as good. But Triston and I did like them. It has been fun to share more of our lives with each other.
We also spent a weekend in Rexburg for Josh's ferwell. I joking tell my mom if we knew how much work that was going to be we wouldn't have gone. Because my dad and Josh and Triston worked on the new deck. Because those crazy boys decided to build it in a week. Thank heavens for the Rasmussens who came and helped. While the boys worked on the deck mom, Shayla , Nicole, Grandma Wenczel and I make food for the dinner on sunday. All the work was worth it. Josh has an amazing ferwell and it was so fun to see friends and family. We also took the time to take family pictures. We knew this would be the only time we had before Josh left. Here are some of my favorites.
Also SURPRISE I chopped my hair. I have always wanted to have it cut after the wedding. And Triston was getting sick of my long hair all over the place. So I asked Jaci to work her magic. And as you can tell she did. I love it. It is weird because I have had long hair since high school. But I love the change.
The next week my family came to Provo to take Josh to the MTC. I couldn't believe that the day had finally come that Josh was going to be leaving on a mission. Growing up I can remember he would take his BOM and shut all the doors in the house. He would go to each one and knock and pretend to be a missionary. And when asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, he always said a missionary. Safe to say this boy was ready to go. It just like my dad said. Dropping him off at the MTC wasn't something that we could ever prepare for. It was hard to say the least. But we are so proud of him. Here are some pictures of the drop off. Poor Trevin has missed his best friend. But what a good example Josh is for him.
Elder Lords is doing well. He is loving IA. And we are so proud of him
The following weekend we were able to head to AZ for a family reunion. It was fun to meet Triston's family. But it was the most fun to be with the girls and spend time with our family. We love being an aunt and uncle to these cuties and count down the days until we get to see them.
We also got to go to the families favorite Mexican restaurant. We were able to celebrate Triston and Jackson's birthdays. It was a fun weekend that we didn't want to end. We wish our 9 hour drive was shorter and that we got to see our AZ family more.
Which leads us to Triston special birthday. This year he turned 24 on July 24th. Unfortunalty we had to work all day on his birthday. But we did take a break for lunch with Matt and Hannah. I love but hate going to eat at their house. Hannah is an amazing cook and I love to eat what she makes, but I always leave wishing I could cook like her! Since we had to work we ended up celebrating on friday. We hiked the Y which I hadn't done. And that was a lot of fun. It was a beautiful hike. We then had lunch at Tucanoes. That Sunday we invited friends over for cake and Ice cream. Triston got the head phones he wanted. I tried to surprise him, but he caught me red handed.
Anyways sorry for the long post. But I finally finished my semester and I now have time for blogging. Hope everyone is having a good summer.
Love,
The Rogers
